Ganajagaran Mancha protests at Jamaat’s countrywide shutdown

The Ganajagaran Mancha brought out a procession in the capital on Thursday protesting at the day-long nationwide shutdown enforced by Jamaat-e-Islami over the Supreme Court verdict that sentenced its leader Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mojaheed to death.
The Ganajagaran Mancha activists, led by its spokesperson Imran H Sarkar, brought out the procession from Shahbagh intersection around 12:00pm.
The procession, also attended by people from all walks of life, ended at the Shahbagh intersection after parading different streets of Dhaka University area.
Addressing a rally at Shahbagh following the procession, Ganajagaran Mancha spokesperson Imran H Sarkar said that the nation rejected the hartal that called to foil the war crimes trial.
People would reject Jamaat’s future hartals in the same way, he said.
He said Jamaat enforced the hartal in a bid to create anarchy in the country.
Hailing the court verdict, the Mancha spokesperson Imran H Sarkar said, ‘Justice has been established and people’s demand has been met.’
It was once again proved that the anti-liberation forces had no place on the soil of Bangladesh, he said.
He urged the government to ban the Jamaat-Shibir’s politics without any delay to root out terrorism from the country forever.
He also made a call for joining a rally today in front of National Museum at Shahbagh intersection in demand of immediate execution of war criminals Salauddin Quader Chowdhury and Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mojaheed and immediate arrest of the killers of publisher Faisal Arefin Dipon and attackers of three other publishers and writers.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Chhatra League, student wing of Bangladesh Awami league, also brought out a procession on Dhaka University campus protesting at Jamaat’s countrywide shutdown.
