Huda launches Trinamul BNP

Former Bangladesh Nationalist Party minister Nazmul Huda launched a new political party, Trinamul BNP, on Friday aiming at ‘protecting BNP from destruction.’
Launching the party at a press conference at Westin Hotel in the city, Huda claimed that BNP led by its chairperson Khaleda Zia became a failure and he blamed the party’s top leadership, expatriate leadership, standing committee and national executive committee for the failure.
Huda, also the Bangladesh National Alliance chairman, said that there was no other way to salvage BNP without changing its leadership established through inheritance.
He said the journey of BNP should start afresh with a new name.
Elected leaders from grassroots would lead the Trinamul BNP that would advocate the establishment of spirit of the Liberation War and non-communalism, he said
The grassroots leaders would be elected gradually from ward, union, upazila, district and national executive committee through council sessions, he added.
He said countrywide first meeting of Trinamul BNP ward units would be held on January 31, 2016 and ward council sessions would be held on February 7, 2016 while national council session for electing national executive committee would be held on September 7, 2016.
Huda, former BNP vice-chairman, said that the main objective of the Trinamul BNP was to establish human rights and good governance.
He said that the new party would carry out effort to maintain healthy politics through holding a fair and free national election to establish accountability and good governance.
He said BNP was now griped by inertia bearing fatigue of defeat in hartal  and blockade and the party was neither in power nor in parliament after boycotting the January 5, 2014 election.
Huda said that BNP was now on the verge of destruction as it had been run by directive issued from London by the leadership established through inheritance.
Asked about speculations that he floated the party being aided by the government, Huda said he would welcome everyone even from the government who would aid to a patriotic party to flourish.
He said that he was not an agent of Indian or Pakistani intelligence agencies.
He said that he would seek bunch of paddy as the election symbol of his party.
Earlier, Huda had launched Bangladesh Nationalist Front, Bangladesh Manabodhikar Party and Bangladesh National Alliance.
Liberal Democratic Party faction chairman M Nazimuddin Al Azad, Labour Party faction chairman Sekendar Ali Moni, Ganatantrik Andolan chairman ARM Zafrullah and Bangladesh Democratic Party chairman M Zamaluddin were present.
