Protest held against hike in essentials prices

Leaders of the Communist Party of Bangladesh at a protest rally in the capital on Tuesday protested against the hikes in essentials prices before Ramadan.
The Dhaka committee of the party held the rally in front of the National Press Club.
The party’s general secretary, Syed Abu Zafar Ahmed, while addressing the rally, said that some ‘dishonest syndicates’ already increased the prices of the essential commodities.
He called on the government to take steps to break the syndicates and decrease the essentials’ prices.
He also called on the mills and factory owners to pay the wages and festival allowances of the workers before Ramadan 20.
Dhaka Committee general secretary of the party Sajedul Haque Rubel said that the left parties would wage movements if their demands were not met immediately.
Chaired by CPB Dhaka Committee president Abdul Kader, the rally was addressed by party’s central leaders Fazlur Rahman, Hasan Tareque Chowdhury, Khan Asaduzzaman Masum and Sekander Hyet among others.
