WP demands price control during Ramadan

Leaders of Workers Party of Bangladesh, a partner of the Awami League-led alliance, at a protest rally in the capital on Saturday called on the government to take immediate steps to check price hike of essential commodities during Ramadan.
The Dhaka city unit of the party organised the rally in front of National Press Club, where politburo member Nur Ahmed Bakul said hoarders already increased prices of sugar and onion and other items before Ramadan.
He called on the government to take immediate steps to rein in the skyrocketing prices of essential commodities during Ramadan which would begin this week.
The labour leader, who chaired the rally, called on the government and the factory owners to pay the wage and festival allowance of the workers before Ramadan 21.
Central leaders of the party Tipu Sultan, Zakir Hossain Raju, Mostafa Alamgir Ratan, city general secretary Kishore Roy, city leader Murshida Akhter and student leader Arnab Debnath spoke at the rally.
