WB 'confident' in PM's development agenda

World Bank president Jim Yong Kim on Tuesday expressed his ‘full confidence’ in the development agenda of prime minister Sheikh Hasina's government in Bangladesh.

The World Bank president expressed the confidence when he paid a courtesy call on prime minister Sheikh Hasina at her official Ganabhaban residence in the capital Tuesday afternoon.

After the meeting, PM's press secretary Ihsanul Karim briefed reporters.

He said the World Bank president agreed to the steps the government of prime minister Sheikh Hasina had taken for the development of the country.

Kim said World Bank is fully committed to support Bangladesh in adaptation and mitigation of climate change.

The press secretary said the World Bank president volunteered to help Bangladesh to raise more fund to face climate change impact.

He said he believes that Bangladesh has enormous potential to attract foreign investment.

In this connection, the World Bank president offered to share experience with other countries of the ease of doing business in Bangladesh.
