PM says security shouldn’t detach PM from people
The prime minister, Sheikh Hasina, on Thursday asked the members of Special Security Force to be careful so that her contact with general people is not hindered in the name of security.
‘We do politics…General people are the main source of power for us… You need to keep it in mind that we should not be detached from people,’ she said.
Sheikh Hasina was addressing a function marking the 29th founding anniversary of SSF at the Prime Minister’s Office.
The prime minister said their politics was for people, not for herself in any way. ‘It is right you have to
ensure my security, but you also have to be careful that I’m not isolated from people,’ she said.
Hasina said her only aim was to utilise every moment, minute for the development of the country and the welfare of people. ‘That is why I do not want to waste any working hours, and also for that who work with me have to give extra labour too,’ she said adding, ‘I feel peace in my mind when our labour and efforts bring good for people.’
The prime minister said her parents and brothers sacrificed their lives for the people of this country, while millions of people have brought independence with their blood. ‘So, it is my aim to bring prosperity for this country.’
She said the more the country would get developed the greater welfare of people would be ensured, and Bangladesh would be recognised as a dignified country on the global stage,’ she added.
Praising the SSF personnel for their efficiency, devotion, dutifulness, loyalty, professionalism and skills, Hasina hoped that the force would perform their duties with honesty, sincerity and utmost trustworthiness.
She advised them to consider the issues of building strong character, ensure highest discipline, honesty, dutifulness and human qualifications with utmost importance.
The prime minister said the security system was now under a challenge as the type and techniques of militant and terrorist activities has been changed across the globe with the advent of new technologies and the terrorists can now carry out their operations from any corner of the world.
Under the circumstances, she said, the level of security measures has been increased across the world and her government also ensured various facilities, including digital technology for the SSF to modernise the force as well as enhancing their capability through imparting training, she added.
Earlier, SSF director general Major General Sheikh Mohammad Aman Hassan delivered welcome address.
The chiefs of the three services, the principal secretary, the PMO secretary, the press secretary to the prime minister and other senior officials of the PMO were present on the occasion.
