Three suspected robbers killed in Cumilla ‘gun battle’
Three suspected robbers were killed in a reported gunfight with police while ‘taking preparation for a robbery’ in Kumla area of Burichang Upazila on early Monday.
The deceased were identified as Ali, 32, of Burichang upazila, Babul, 28, of Charbakar area of Debidwar upazila, and Tajul Islam, 30, of Gopal Nagar area of Brahmanpara upazila.
Burichang officer-in-charge Okul Chandra Biswas said that being tipped of that a group of robbers were taking preparation for committing robbery in the area, the police raided the are.
As soon as the police team reached the spot, miscreants opened fire on them, forcing them to fire back that triggered the gunfight.
After the skirmish, the police found the three with bullet injuries and took them to Cumilla Medical College and Hospital where doctors declared them dead, The OC said.
