One put on 4-day remand over Rubaiya’s death

A Dhaka court on Sunday put Abdur Rahman Saikat on a four-day remand for further interrogation over the death of university student Rubaiya Sharmin Rumpa.

Metropolitan judge Mamnur Rashid gave the verdict against the 7-day remand prayer by Ramna police station sub-inspector Abul Khayer.

Abdur Rahman Saikat was detained on Saturday night over the death of Stamford University student Rubaiyat Sharmin Rumpa and was shown arrested in the case filed over the incident.

Rubaiya Sharmin Rumpa, 21, a second-year English student of Siddheswari branch of the private university, was recovered from an alley of the area December 4 night.
