BRUR teacher held for criticising Nasim’s death on social media
Police early Sunday arrested a teacher of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur on allegation of criticising former health minister and ruling Awami League presidium member Mohammed Nasim’s death on Facebook.
The arrested was identified as Sirajum Munira, a lecturer of Bangla department of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur.
Robiul Isalm, officer-in-charge (investigation) of Tajhat police station, Rangpur, said that they arrested the Sirajum Munira raiding her Sardarpara house near the university campus as the university administration filed a case under the Digital Security Act against her alleging that she criticised former health minister Mohammed Nasim’s death through a Facebook post.
He said that she was now in police custody and the police would produce her before a court on Sunday.
Former health minister and AL presidium member Mohammed Nasim died of COVID-19 at a hospital in the capital on Saturday.
