DGDA rejects GK's COVID-19 rapid test kit

The Directorate General of Drug Administration on Thursday rejected Gonoshasthaya Kendra's COVID-19 Rapid Dot Blot test kit, said GK in a press release.

GK’s Rapid Dot Blot kit programme coordinator Mohib Ullah Khandoker told New Age said that the DGDA sent an email to them in the evening and said that their technical committee rejected the kit even after BSMMU's recommendations.

'The kit is not getting permission,' he said.

He said GK would inform further steps soon.

DGDA deputy director and spokesperson Ayub Hossain said that he was not aware of the matter and would give a reaction on Sunday.

Hours before the decision Mohib Ullah at a discussion held at GK's Nagar Hospital said that the DGDA have received BSMMU’s trial report with recommendations on June 16.

Gonoshasthaya Kendra’s Gonoshasthaya-RNA Biotech Limited’s researchers have developed two Rapid Dot Blot Kits — one for antibody test and the other for antigen test — and BSMMU trialled the performance of the antibody kit according to the DGDA decision.

The antigen kit trial remained suspended for technical problems, said the authorities.
