Bangladesh's left leader Mubinul Haider dies

The Socialist Party of Bangladesh (Marxist) general secretary Mubinul Haider Chowdhury died in a hospital in Dhaka on Tuesday night. He was 87.

The veteran left leader died at Square Hospital in Dhaka at about 10:50pm, said Raju Ahmed, a central leader of the labour front of the party, told New Age.

He said that Mubinul had been suffering from old age complications for the last few years and was admitted to Square Hospital on June 27.

The SPB (Marxist) leader was put on life support on Thursday afternoon when his health condition deteriorated, Raju said.

Mubinul was a central leader of Socialist Party of Bangladesh and formed a new left party, SPB (Marxist), in 2013.
