Foreigners’ killings part of conspiracy against country: PM
The prime minister, Sheikh Hasina, on Saturday said that the killings of foreigners in Bangladesh were pre-planned and parts of a conspiracy to stop the advancement of Bangladesh and tarnish the country’s image abroad creating unrest in the country.
She made the statement while talking with leaders of the ruling Awami League in Sylhet at Osmani International Airport as she made a stopover there, said Sylhet city AL president Badar Uddin Ahmad Kamran, also former Sylhet city mayor.
The prime minister also instructed the law-enforcing agencies to arrest the killers of the foreign nationals and to find out the masterminds behind the killings.
She also urged leaders and activists of ruling Awami League and the countrymen to remain alert against the conspiracy.
Local AL leaders met Hasina, also the Awami League president, at the airport during the one-hour stopover.
District Al acting president Luthfir Rahman, its general secretary Shafiqur Rahman Chowdhury, city unit general secretary Asad Uddin Ahmad, local lawmaker Mahmud-Us Samand Chowdhury and Amatul Kibria Chowdhury Keya, among others, attended with the meeting.
Hasina reached Sylhet by a direct Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight from London at 11:25am and left for Dhaka at 12-35pm, the airport sources said.
