Khaleda, Tarique trying to contact int’l terrorist organisaitons: Inu
Information minister Hasanul Haq Inu on Tuesday alleged that Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairperson Khaleda Zia and her son Tarique Rahman were trying to communicate with the Middle East-based international terrorist organisations to create instability in the country.
Addressing a press conference at the secretariat he said the government had got some evidence implicating that the two BNP leaders, now staying in London, were trying to turn the situation abnormal so that they could ‘fish in troubled water.’
‘Khaleda and her son are trying to contact Dawood Ibrahim and Middle East-based militant organisations to destabilise the country. We are getting such information,’ Inu said.
Accusing BNP-Jamaat of the recent murders, the minister said Khaleda was directly patronising militancy in the country.
He said action would be taken after investigation.
Inu was responding to a recent statement of Khaleda Zia in London where she branded prime minister Sheikh Hasina as ‘lady Hitler’ and said the ‘lady Hitler has established monarchy in the country out of greed for power.’
The minister said the BNP chairperson was telling lies and asserted that Sheikh Hasina was running the government in keeping with the Constitution and democratic values.
He, further, said there was ‘politics’ in issuance of security alerts by some foreign missions in Dhaka in recent times.
At an Awami League rally in the city, prime minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday alleged that Khaleda had launched a secret killing mission in the country while staying abroad to save war criminals from the ongoing trials.
Responding to reporters’ questions at his office in the secretariat, home minister Asaduzzman Khan said the masterminds behind the killings would be brought to book soon, no matter wherever they were staying now.
He said the prime minister had specific information and that was why she
had blamed the BNP chairperson for the recent killing.
Unknown assailants on Saturday hacked Faisal Arefin Dipan of Jagriti Prokashani to death at his office in Aziz Super Market at Shahbagh and injured Shuddhoswar’s Ahmedur Rashid Tutul and bloggers Tareq Rahim and Ranadipam Basu in a separate attack at their workplace in Lalmatia.
The so-called Ansar Al Islam tweeted later on the day claiming responsibility for the killing and attack on secular bloggers.
The home minister iterated that militant organisaions like Ansar Al Islam or JMB or Ansarullah Bangla Team had its origin in Jamaat-e-Islami.
The murder of the publisher took place around a month after two foreigners were killed by unknown assailants in Dhaka and Rangpur.
