From CNN’s Dan Merica: Clinton picks up endorsement from O’Malley aide
Martin O’Malley’s New Hampshire campaign co-chairman, Peter Hoe Burling, endorsed Hillary Clinton in a Facebook post today, days after his candidate dropped out of the race.
“My candidate for the presidency has suspended his campaign,” he wrote. “But now we all have an important choice to make between two exceptional candidates. To the extent that it matters to my friends and fellow Democrats, I choose at this time to support Hillary Clinton for the presidency.”
Burling’s reasons include how Clinton can help Democrats win “up and down the ballot” and the fact Clinton is supported by “a group of New Hampshire Democratic women with whom I have worked for thirty years.”
“Of the candidates now running in either party, Secretary Clinton is unquestionably the most qualified… without a doubt,” Burling writes. “Her experiences in public life, as an advocate for ideas that I think are critical to the well-being of all Americans, has prepared her for the presidency.”
Burling is a former DNC member and a former member of the New Hampshire State Senate.
