Chhatra Union’s 64th founding anniv observed
Bangladesh Chhatra Union on Tuesday observed its’ 64th founding anniversary on Dhaka University campus.
The student organisation brought out a colourful procession with party flag, festoons and placards on the campus in the morning in observance of the day.
Leaders and activists of the organisation paraded campus streets and ended the procession placing wreaths at Central Shaheed Minar.
A discussion and a cultural function were also organised at Shawparjita Sadhinota premises to mark the day.
BCU DU unit secretary Tuhin Kanti Das said, ‘Since its’ inception, BCU leaders and activists have been working for establishing rights of general students as well as general public. There might be some changes in the society, but the repression and discrimination remain the same as it was. BCU believes in changes in the society, and works for it’.
The student organisation was established on April 26, 1952.
BCU played a vital role during the historical events in 1954, 1962, 1966, 1969, 1971 and other struggles of the nation.
