Kamal Ahmed Majumder (born 03 March 1950) is a Bangladeshi Industrialist, Businessman, Politician, incumbent State Minister and Member of Parliament representing Dhaka-15 constituency. He was elected from Dhaka-11 in the Seventh and Ninth, Tenth & Eleventh Parliament election from Dhaka-15. He is the current State Minister of Industries since 7th January 2019.

Mojumder was born in a noble Muslim family in Nijkalikapur village of Feni district. His father is Alhaj Maulana Noor Mostafa Mojumder and mother is Alhaj Delbahar Begum. His father was a prominent Muslim scholar of the then Indian subcontinent.

Mojumder began his journey of academic life from the Nijkalikapur Primary School. He passed the SSC examination from Parshuram Pilot High School. Later he passed the HSC examination and did graduation from the Salimullah College located in Dhaka. During his study at the University of Dhaka, he could not take part in the final examination of Masters Degree in Political Science and the Second Part Exam of Law because of his imprisonment in order to harass him politicaly. He was imprisoned for several times on political ground and stayed in jail for more than five years.

Mojumdar was a legendary student leader. He was elected GS and VP of the student union of Salimullah College. He became the President of Dhaka Metropolitan unit for three times and simultaneously the Cultural Secretary of the Central Committee of Bangladesh Chhatra League. After his active involvement in student politics, he got closely associated with the politics of Bangladesh Awami League. He was the senior vice-president of Dhaka City Awami League. At present, he is the Chief Advisor of the Dhaka North City Awami League. He is a prominent entrepreneur, one of the pioneers in garment industry, educationist, sports organizer as well as a writer. He is also involved in journalism. He is the Chairman of Mohana Television Limited and SS Agro Complex Ltd.

Mojumdar is a veteran freedom fighter. He actively participated in the glorious War of Liberation in 1971. He was the first to form a protest rally in Dhaka University after the brutal assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family members on the 15th August 1975. He was arrested several times on this ground. He had close friendship with Sheikh Kamal and the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had much love for him.

Mojumdar is the founder of Manipur High School and College, one of the best educational institutions in Bangladesh. In addition to this, he founded many educational institutions including Government Bangabandhu College, Sheikh Fazilatunnessa Islamic Women's Degree College, Bangabandhu Vidyaniketan, Kamal Ahmed Mojumder School and College and Delbahar Primary School. He took initiatives for reconstruction, extension and development of many other institutions in Mirpur including Mirpur Udayan School, Jannat Academy High School, Adarsha High School, Kazipara Siddiqia Fazil Madrsah, etc. Besides, he is the founder of Chalantika Krirachakra. He is a member of Bangladesh Olympic Association and the Asian Athletic Federation. He was the President of the Bangladesh Amateur Athletics Federation and the Vice-President of the SAARC Athletics Federation. He is also the founder of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Mobile Hospital.

Mojumdar is a life member of Bangla Academy, Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, Bangladesh Blind Welfare Association and a registered graduate of Dhaka University and former Senate member of the Bangabandhu Agricultural University and Jahangirnagar University.

Mojumdar had been awarded with the National Medal twice by the Hon’ble President of Bangladesh and became CIP for five times consecutively as recognition of his contributions in the field of Ready-made Garments. He was also awarded with the National Gold Medal by the Intellectual Forum for the contribution in the Liberation War and Social Services.

In the by-election held in 1990 at greater Mirpur (Dhaka-11) constituency his victory was forcibly taken away. Subsequently, Mojumder was elected as the Member of the Parliament from the same Constituency as a candidate of Bangladesh Awami League in the 7th National Election held in 1996, and served as the Chairman of the Standing Committee on the Post and Telecommunications Ministry. On December 29, 2008 he was elected as a Member of the Parliament in the 9th National Election and served as a Member of the Standing Committee on the Petition Committee and the Standing Committee on Industry Ministry. Mojumder was elected a Member of the Parliament in the 10th National Election held on 5 January 2014. He served as a Member of the Standing Committee on Housing and Public Works Ministry and the Member of the Standing Committee on Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock. He was again elected a Member of the Parliament from Dhaka-15 Constituency in the 11th National Election held on December 30, 2018 and took over the charge as the Minister of State of Ministry of Industries of the present government on January 07, 2019.

Shahida Kamal is the spouse of Kamal Ahmed Majumder and they blessed with two sons and two daughters. Shahida Kamal is the Director of SS Agro Complex Limited.
