Md. Akabbar Hossain (born 12 July 1956) is a Bangladesh Awami League politician and incumbent Member of Parliament represening Tangail-7 (Mirzapur) constituency. He was elected as a Member of Parliament from Tangail-6 Mirzapur constituency as a nominated candidate of Bangladesh Awami League in the 2001, 2008, 2014 and 2018 National Parliament elections.
Hossain was born in Postakamuri village of Mirzapur upazila of Tangail district. His father's name was Alhaj Wazuddin and mother's name was Rezia Begum. He obtained BSS honors from Dhaka University in 1977 and MSS degree in 1978.
Hossain became involved in the politics of Chhatra League from his student life. While studying at the government Titumir College in 1973, he was the general secretary of the college branch of Chhatra League. Later in 1976 he was the general secretary of Mohsin Hall branch of Dhaka University and in 1978 he was the president of the same hall branch of Chhatra League.
Hossain was the three-time president of Mirzapur Upazila Central Cooperative Society. In 1990, he was elected chairman of Mirzapur Upazila Parishad. He was the general secretary of Mirzapur Upazila Awami League. He was the Chairman of the Standing Committee on the Ministry of Road Transport & Bridges in Parliament and a member of the Standing Committee on the Ministry of Land.
Ekabbar Hossain died on November 17, 2021 while undergoing treatment at the Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka.
