Noor-E-Alam Chowdhury Liton (born 01 June 1964) is a Bangladeshi politician, businessman and incumbent member of parliament representing Madaripur-1 constituency. He is the Chief whip of National Parliament.
Chowdhury was born in Dattapara village under Shibchar upazila in Madaripur district. His father's name was Ilias Ahmed Chowdhury was also a member of parliament and his mother's name was Firoza Begum. Chowdhury passed SSC in 1982 and HSC in 1984. He is the grand-nephew of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Both his paternal and maternal grandmothers were sisters of Sheikh Mujib. His parents, Ilias Ahmed Chowdhury and Sheikh Feroza Begum, are cousins of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Chowdhury was elected a Member of Parliament in the by-election of the 5th National Parliament in 1991 and served as a member of the Standing Committee on the Ministry of Cultural Affairs. He was re-elected as a Member of Parliament as an Awami League candidate in the 8th National Assembly elections on 12 June 1996 and served as a member of the Standing Committee on the Ministry of Housing and Public Works. He was re-elected as a Member of Parliament on October 1, 2001 in the 8th National Assembly. In this Parliament, he served as a member of the Standing Committee on the Ministry of Housing and Public Works and the Ministry of Food and Disaster Management. He was elected a Member of Parliament on 29 December 2008 in the Ninth Parliamentary Election as a candidate of Bangladesh Awami League. He is the Chairman of the Standing Committee on the Ministry of Shipping and Whips of the National Assembly and was a member the Ministry of Housing and Public Works. He was a member of the Standing Committee on the Ministry of Rural Development and Cooperatives. He was elected as a Member of Parliament on 5 January 2014 in the 10th Parliamentary Election as a candidate of Bangladesh Awami League. He served as the Chairman of the Assumed Accounts Committee, Secretary of the Bangladesh Awami League Parliamentary Party, Parliamentary Committee, Parliamentary President and Member of the Standing Committee on Bills of Private Members and Decisions of Private Members.
He is the founding president of Ilias Ahmed Chowdhury Degree College and the president of Nurul Amin College. He is the President of the Board of Directors of Sheikh Fazilatunnessa High School. He was the former president of the Inland Shipping Owners Association Group. He is a member of the Regent Board of Gopalganj Bangabandhu University of Science and Technology.
