Gayeshwar Chandra Roy (born 1 November 1951) is a Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) politician and former State minister who is currently serving as a standing committee (the highest policy-making forum) member of the party.
Roy was born in Keraniganj, Dhaka. His father's name was Gyanendra Chandra Roy and his mother's name was Sumati Roy.
Roy was involved in progressive politics in his student life. In 1970's, he was a member of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD). He joined 'Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal', a political wing of the BNP in 1978. He later served as the General Secretary of Juba Dal (1987-2002). After the 5th parliamentary election in 1991, the BNP formed the government and Roy was made State minister (1991 – 1996) for Environment and Forest (now Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change) under the technocrat quota. Later, he was appointed as one of the joint secretary generals of BNP and then member of the Standing Committee.
In 2008, for the first time in the Ninth Parliamentary Elections, Roy nominated the Jatiya Sangsad election from Dhaka-3 constituency as a BNP candidate and lost to Nasrul Hamid of Awami League by 6,610 votes. In the Eleventh Parliamentary Election in 2018, he was again nominated by the BNP from the same seat.
