Fazle Hossain Badsha (born 15 October 1952) is a Bangladeshi politician and incumbent Member of Parliament representing Rajshahi-2 constituency. He was a member of the 9th, 10th and 11th Jatiya Sangsad. He is the General Secretary of Workers Party of Bangladesh.
Badsha was born in Hargram Bazar of Rajshahi metropolitan city. His father Khandaker Ashraf Hossain was a lawyer of the Rajshahi Judge Court and mother Dilara Hossain. Badshah is the third among nine brothers and sisters. In 1967 he passed SSC from Rajshahi Collegiate School, in 1970 he passed HSC from New Govt. Degree College, Rajshahi. He obtained Honors and Masters in Economics and LLB degrees from Rajshahi University.
While studying at Rajshahi University, Badsha became known as a famous student leader. From the beginning he was associated with progressive leftist political organizations. In 1969, he accepted the membership of East Pakistan Students Union (MENON). When the war of liberation started two years later, Badsha played the role of an organizer. At the beginning of the liberation war, he organized students and youth in the western part of Rajshahi metropolis. After that, he first joined the Agartala Melaghar Freedom Fighters Camp in Tripura state of India to actively participate in the liberation war. Later came to Panipia camp in Murshidabad district. He was also in Dhulaura camp for some time to organize the freedom fighters.
After the independence of the country, Badsha organized the progressive student society and became very active in realizing the demands of the students. In 1980, he was elected as the VP (Vice President) of Rajshahi University Central Student Union. On December 6 of this year, he played a major role in building a new student organization called Bangladesh Biplabhi Chhatra Maitri. He became the first president of this organization. Later, the Biplabhi term of the organization was abolished and it was renamed as Bangladesh Chhatra Maitri.
In 1991, Badsha was elected as a member of the Politburo of the Workers' Party of Bangladesh. He contested as Member of Parliament in Rajshahi-2 (Paba-Boalia) constituency in 1991, 1996, 2001 and as Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation in 2002. On December 29, 2008, he got a chance to sit in the National Parliament by contesting as a candidate of the Bangladesh Workers Party under the leadership of Bangladesh Awami League. On 2014 and 2018, he was re-elected as a Member of Parliament for the same seat.
