Habibe Millat (born 15 January 1966) is a Bangladesh Awami League politician, cardiac surgeon and the incumbent Member of Parliament representing Sirajganj-2 1 constituency. He is the Vice Chairman of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) is designated as Governing Board Member for the International Federation of Red Cross & Red Crescent Society (IFRC). He is also a member of Global Steering Committee for the One Billion Coalition for Resilience. He is the Vice Chairman of Bangladesh Medical Research Council (BMRC).
Millat's ancestral home is in Sirajganj Sadar Upazila of Sirajganj district. He obtained his MBBS degree from the Mymensingh Medical College in Bangladesh and FRCS degree from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK. He also trained in Advanced Cardiothoracic Surgery Europe’s leading hospitals and in Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA. He has a number of scientific articles were also published in international medical Journals. He is also trained in Advanced Cardiothoracic Surgery from Europe's leading hospitals and in Harvard Medical School, Boston, United States. He has a number of scientific articles published in international medical journals.
Surgeon by profession Dr. Millat is actively associated with politics. He was elected as a Member of Parliament from Bangladesh Awami League in 2014. He was re-elected as a Member of Parliament from Sirajganj-2 Constituency in the 2019-2024 session.
Millat's humanitarian journey started as a Volunteer of Irish Red Cross in 2004, later he became a life member of the Bangladesh Red Crescent in 2010. Since then he served in the different leadership position in local, national and international bodies within the RCRC movement. Millat was elected as President of the Health Committee for the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in 2017. Earlier, he served for three years as a member of IPU’s advisory committee. He is a lawmaker of Bangladesh Parliament. As a Member of the Parliament, he is also a member of the Parliamentary Committee on Social Welfare and Bangladesh Association of Parliamentarians on Population and Development.
Millat has also been involved in numerous national and international organizations including SAARC Medical Research Committee, Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, Sandhani National Eye Donation Society, Ansary Foundation, Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) of Bangladesh Chapter, Swadhinata Chikitsak Parishad (SWACHIP) and so on.
