Mustafa Osman Turan (born 1969) is a career Diploma, Dreamer, Community Builder, Mediator, Co-Founder at InnoCampus.org, passionate about connecting people through meaningful conversations artfully hosted in inspirational places, seeking balance between science and spirituality, between dreams and realities, dedicated to the advancement of human consciousness, interested in exoteric ancient wisdom traditions. He lived and worked in Belgium, Italy, Albania, North Macedonia, Kosovo, Austria, Afghanistan and Bangladesh.
Turan was born in Izmit, the central district of Kocaeli province, Turkey. He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey in 1992 following his studies in international relations at the Middle East Technical University in Ankara. He completed his Master’s degree on European politics in 1996 at the College of Europe in Bruges, Belgium. As a career diplomat, he worked in Italy, Albania, Macedonia, Kosovo, Austria, Afghanistan and Belgium. Before being appointed as Turkish Ambassador to Bangladesh, he was based in Ankara as Deputy Director General for Multilateral Economic Affairs. Throughout his career, he worked at the Ministry’s departments on the Middle East, NATO and Euro-Atlantic Security and Defence Affairs, Arms Control and Disarmament and Multilateral Economic Affairs.
Turan also considers himself a social entrepreneur. His passion is to host meaningful conversations in inspiring places. Since 2013, he initiated InnoMate Entrepreneurship and Innovation Meetup Groups in Brussels, Luxembourg, Milan and Istanbul (2013); InnoCampus, a non-profit entrepreneurship training programme (2015); TACT Agora, a global platform for co-learning through curated expeditions (2017); and finally SDG Impact Accelerator, a multistakeholder platform to empower impact entrepreneurs to address complex development challenges (2018).
Turan joined as the Ambassador to Bangladesh as of 15 January 2020 and returned to Turkey after successfully completing his duties in Dhaka till 31 January 2023.
