Khaleda terms Hasina ‘neo-Hitler’
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairperson, Khaleda Zia, on Saturday branded the prime minister, Sheikh Hasina, as ‘neo Hitler’, accusing her government of killing people and causing enforced disappearance in Hitler’s style.Addressing a rally in Nawab Sirajuddowla College ground in Natore, she refuted the prime minister’s allegation that the BNP lost ground and said that the party stood on solid ground.Khaleda urged the people to prepare to carry out the next programmes of movement saying that she would give a call for movement at an appropriate time. The local chapter of the BNP-led alliance organised the rally demanding immediate holding of an inclusive general elections under a non-party neutral government.
Although the rally was organised by the alliance, participation of its key partner Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatra Shibir was conspicuously poor compared with the recently held public meetings of Khaleda in various districts.Referring to the prime minister’s remarks that BNP could wage movement as it lost ground under its feet, Khaleda asked her political rival Hasina to first withdraw her goons and stop police firing on the opposition to prove the ground of the two parties.Referring to massive public gathering at her recent public meetings in different districts including Natore, she said that the BNP stood firmly on this soil with the support of the people.

The BNP chairperson said if her party and alliance came to power the recruitment of Bangladeshi manpower in the middle-East would be reopened. She said that the Awami League would not be able to do it as it had no good relation with Muslim world.Khaleda criticised the government’s claim of success in electricity saying there was no electricity in the country on Saturday.During about one-hour speech, Khaleda accused the government of making the judiciary partisan and urged the judges not to give judgements looking at face and party. She branded Anti-Corruption Commission as ‘Corruption Commission’ alleging that it was giving clean chits to all corrupts of the ruling party.
Jamaat nayeb-e-amir Mujibur Rahman said that general strike was going on to protest the death sentence of its amir Motiur Rahman Nizami and cautioned that non-stop shutdown would be enforced if another verdict was given against its leaders.Presiding over the public meeting, district BNP president Ruhul Quddus Talukder Dulu said that people from Natore would besiege leaders of Dhaka if they failed to wage the movement this time.Among others, BNP leaders Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Abdul Moyeen Khan, Nazrul Islam Khan, Mizanur Rahman Minu and Shirin Sultana, Khelafat Majlish amir Mohammad Ishaq, Islami Oikya Jote chairman Abdul Latif Nezami, Jatiya Ganatantrik Party president Shafiul Alam Prodhan, National Democratic Party faction chairman Khandakar Golam Mortuza, National Peoples Party faction chairman Fariduzzaman Farhad and Labour Party faction chairman Mustafizur Rahman Iran addressed the rally.
