‘Bangabahadur’ dies

The washed-away male elephant died at village Koyra of Sarishabari upazila in Jamalpur on Tuesday morning.
Locals said it became sick since Sunday night after it was tranquilised for the second time.
Sarishabari police officer-in-charge Md Billal Uddin said the elephant, named Bangabahadur in Bangladesh, died around 6:00am.
The elephant, separated from its herd had made a perilous journey through Brahmaputra River in India and Jamuna in Bangladesh in the last one-and-a-half-months, villagers and forest department officials said.
