CMC observes 60th founding anniv

Chittagong Medical College on Tuesday celebrated its 60th founding anniversary amid festivity.
To mark the occasion, the CMC authorities took up daylong programmes include procession, discussion, cultural show and Chittagong region’s traditional feast Mejban.
Current teachers and students, former teachers and students and employees of the institution attend at the programmes.
A total of 4,000 former students participated in the programme.
Chittagong city mayor AJM Nasir Uddin formally inaugurated the programmes as chief guest by releasing balloons around 10:30am.
CMC principal Selim Mohammad Jahangir, Bangladesh Medical Association Chittagong chapter president Mujibul Haque Khan, its general secretary Mohammad Sharif, Chittagong Medical College and Hospital director Brigadier General Md Jalal Uddin were present at the inaugural ceremony.
BMA Chittagong chapter joint-general secretary Faisal Iqbal Chowdhury conducted the programme.
Ahead of the inaugural ceremony, a colourful procession was brought out from the college and it ended at the same spot.
A discussion and memorial meeting was held where seven prominent people were given lifetime achievement award by the CMC.
The recipients are freedom fighter Shah Alam (Bir Uttam), Professor Lutful Anwar Kaderi, Professor Pran Gopal Dutta, former minister Afsarul Amin, Mojammel Hoque, Badiuzzaman Bhuiyan and Professor Mohammad Abul Fayes.
CMC started its journey in 1957 in Chittagong city.
