30 injured as villagers clash in Sunamganj

At least 30 people were injured in a clash between two groups of villagers over establishing supremacy and land related dispute at Rofinagar village of Derai in Sunamganj on Saturday morning.

Officer-in-charge of Derai police station M Abdul Jalil said two groups of villagers -- one led by Shahid Ali and the other by Ali Akber -- had been at loggerheads over establishing dominance in the village, and over a land related dispute.

As a sequel, the supporters of the two groups fought a pitched battle in the morning with sharp weapons and other locally made lethal arms, leaving at least 30 people from the both sides injured.

The injured were taken to Derai Upazila Health Complex when doctors shifted 20 of them to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital.
