Trial of 3 Bagerhat war crimes suspects begins

The International Crimes Tribunal-1 began trial of three Bagerhat war crimes suspects, Sirajul Haque allies Siraj Master, Abdul Latif and Akram Hossain, on Tuesday.Prosecutor Syed Saiyedul Haque gave his opening statement detailing the historic background of the case and identity of the suspects.
However the prosecutor skipped reading out the charges against the trio.Later the first prosecution witness of the case, Dilip Das, 65, of Ranajitpur in Bagerhat said the Razakar Bahini men led by Siraj attacked their village on May 13 in 1971 and committed genocide, killing 60 peoples including his cousin, Gobinda Das.The trio were members of Razakar Bahini, an auxiliary force of Pakistani occupation army, according to the prosecution.
