Mojaheed’s death sentence appeal hearing January 14
A five member Appellate Division bench headed by the chief justice set the date after Attorney General, Mahabubey Alam sought a date for hearing on the Jamaat-e-Islami secretary general, Mojaheed’s appeal.His lawyer Khandakar Mahbub Hossain sought until first week of February, 2015, for the preparation of the hearing while the attorney general prayed for starting the hearing before winter recess of the court on December 14.
On July 17 in 2013 a three member tribunal led by chief justice Obaydul Hasan gave Mujahid death sentence for committing crimes against humanity during Bangladesh’s war of independence in 1971.The prosecution verified five accusations among the seven including, killing, arson attack, and torture in confinement, abduction and the massacre of frontline Bengali intellectuals hours from independence in the Liberation war in 1971.Mojaheed had filed an appeal petition before the AD on August 11, 2013.
