Four killed, three injured in DMCH ambulance accident

At least four persons were killed and three others injured, as an ambulance ran over them at the entrance of the emergency gate of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital on Saturday.

The accident took place at around 9:00am this morning as the driver of the ambulance lost control over its steering, DMCH police camp in-charge sub-inspector Bachhu Miah said.

Of the deceased were as identifies as Sakib, 7, his mother Gulenoo Begum, 25, wife of Ferdous Ali, of Rangabali in Patuakhali district while the identity of an elderly street-beggar aged about 60 could not be known immediately, he also said. 

Of the injured, the condition of pregnant Surja Begum, 30, and Ramjan Ali, 30, was stated to be critical while the remaining others left the hospital taking first aid.

An unborn baby of Surja Begum died inside her womb and doctors brought the fetus out after conducting operation. 

Police seized the ambulance and arrested its driver Sohel, he added.
