Policeman among 3 killed in Sirajganj accident
At least three people including a policeman were killed in a road accident on the west side of Bangabandhu Bridge on Dhaka-Rajshahi highway in Sirajganj this morning. Bangabandhu Bridge west zone police officer-in-charge, ATM Aminul Islam, said, the dense fog could be blamed for the accident that occurred at around 6:30am at a location between Kodda and Mulibari. A north Bengal-bound truck rammed a parked bus and a police-requisitioned patrol vehicle simultaneously leaving the two drivers dead on the spot, the OC said. A Bogra-bound bus of Khalek Enterprise was parked along the shoulder of the road as it went out of order. The driver, Mafizur Rahman, 30, was working beneath the bus, when the truck hit it, he said. All the passengers had left the spot before the accident, our correspondent reported. Aminul Islam said the police-requisitioned patrol vehicle was also parked along the shoulder, next to the bus. Another victim Zahid Hasan Pramanik, 22, was the driver of police vehicle. Constable Abdul Based, 30, of Sirajganj police line succumbed to his injuries at Sirajganj General Hospital.
