JP ministers to quit cabinet soon: Raushon
Opposition leader Raushon Ershad on Monday said Jatiya Party ministers will quit the cabinet soon so that the party can play effective roles as an opposition. “We’ve had discussions at the party forum that we’ll play an effective role as the opposition…we’ve decided to come out from the cabinet soon,” she said while replying to a question at a press conference at the Parliament Media Centre.
Asked whether Jatiya Party supports police siege to BNP chairperson’s Gulshan political office, Raushon said Khaleda Zia has not been confined. “We think it has been done for the sake of Khaleda Zia’s security.” Raushon, who hardly appear before media, said, they do not know what information the government has about Khaleda Zia. “We don’t support if it has been done out of political intention. We do support if it has been done for her security.” Ruling out the possibility of any a snap election right now, Raushon Ershad said a democratic environment now prevails in the country and that there is no need for any election. She claimed that Jatiya Party participated in the January-5 parliamentary elections last year to continue the constitutional process and sustain democracy. “Though the political situation has turned a bit instable,
it’ll get normal very soon.” Opposition chief Whip Tajul Islam Choudhury, Jaitya Party leaders Kazi Firoz Rashid, MP, ABM Ruhul Amin Howlader, MP, Fakhrul Imam, MP and Rowshon Ara Mannan, MP were among others, present at the press conference, arranged on the occasion of the first anniversary of the January-5 national election that largely went uncontested.
