Junior Tigers clinch series
Bangladesh Under-19 team clinched the five-match youth one-day international series against Sri Lanka Under-19 team after winning the thrilling final match by 14 runs in Colombo on Sunday. It was the third successive win for the Junior Tigers that enabled them making a stunning comeback in the series after losing the first two matches. Prolific left-hander Nazmul Hossain set up the win for Bangladeshi boys scoring his fourth fifty in five matches, 92 off 112 balls, which lifted the side to 212-9 in their 50 overs. Zakir Hasan, another in form batsman of the touring side, chipped in with 42 having faced 62 balls. Chasing the total, the home side seemed costing when Lasith Lakshan and Shalindu Ushan put 82 runs in the opening stand. Sanjit Saha had Laksan caught by Mehedy Hasan for 42 to earn the first breakthrough for Bangladesh Under-19 and two overs later Mohammad Saifuddin removed Ushan for 53 to help the side bounce back. Leg-spinner Saleh Ahmed with his 3-48 ensured there was not late order recovery for Sri Lanka Under-19 as they were all out for 198 runs in 48.5 overs. The two teams will now be involved in youth Test series featuring two matches. The first match will start on January 28 at Dambulla.
