Murder case filed against Khaleda, 3 others

Bangladesh Jananetri Parishad president AB Siddique on Monday filed a murder case against Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairperson Khaleda Zia and three others ‘in connection with killing people’ during the non-stop blockade enforced by the party-led alliance. The other accused are – BNP vice-chairman Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury, its standing committee member Rafiqul Islam Mia, and Khaleda Zia’s adviser Emajuddin Ahmed, also the former vice-chancellor of Dhaka University. Metropolitan magistrate Atiqur Rahman will pass an order after hearing the matter. Fans of prime minister Sheikh Hasina formed Bangladesh Jananetri Parishad. Meanwhile, Chauddagram police in Comilla on January 25 filed a case accusing BNP chief Khaleda Zia and 31 other party activists for arson attack on a covered van and six buses in the district. Khaleda Zia’s name was also incorporated in the first information report in connection with two cases related to Demra bus arson in the city. BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia had announced the indefinite blockade on January 5 as the government did not allow her party to hold a protest rally in the capital.
