Local AL leader killed in Noakhali

A local leader of ruling Awami League was hacked to death at Shwarnakar Bari of Khalishatola in Sadar upazila early Monday.The victim Md Babul Mia, 52, was the vice-president of Char Matua union AL unit in Noakhali. He was also a union parishad member.Incumbent UP chairman, Kamaluddin Bablu, said the incident took place in the early hours of Monday when Babul Mia was returning home riding a motorbike.A group of miscreants waylaid and hacked him indiscriminately with some sharp weapons, he said.He died on the spot.Police could not reach the spot to recover the body till 8:00am.
