PM doubts if Khaleda would accept dialogue.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday said in parliament that the initiative to start a dialogue would encourage the terrorists and militant activities sponsored by the BNP-led alliance across the country in the name of movement. The leader of the House expressed her doubt saying that dialogue would bring no fruit and BNP chief Khaleda Zia would not accept the dialogue. Taking part in the discussion on deferment of SSC exams due to opposition sponsored hartal and blockade, Hasina also said that some terrorists might have taken position inside the BNP Office and the government would find them out.
The government will find the financers of the ongoing terrorist activities and take necessary steps to conduct SSC exams in a secure manner. Demanding deferment of SSC exams to ensure safety of the examinees, independent lawmaker Rustum Ali Farazi brought a notice, according to rules 68 of the rules of procedure, and speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury allowed an hour for discussion on it. Marcia Stephens Bloom Bernicat, newly appointed US ambassador to Bangladesh, was present in the parliament gallery during the session as a visitor. `Some people are talking about dialogue, but dialogue with whom? It will not bear any fruit. If an initiative is taken for dialogue it will encourage terrorists and militant activists,’ she said, adding, ‘if I sit with Khaleda I will get the smell of burnt people from her.’ `Who are staying in the BNP office? Who are financing the terror acts?
There might be terrorists inside the BNP office and the government will find them,’ Hasina said. Taking part in the discussion, commerce minister Tofail Ahmed said, `Khaleda has virtually declared war on the nation, on progress and on the education system.’ Tofail added, `this is nothing but an act of terrorism. She threw the future of1.5 million students into uncertainty but she ensured her two granddaughters left for Malaysia before the passage of 40 days of her son Arafat Rahaman’s death, as they have scheduled examinations in a short time.’ Industries minister and senior leader of ruling party Amir Hossein Amu said, `what is happening everyday in Pakistan, Iraq and Afghanistan, they are trying to do the same in Bangladesh.’ Senior ruling pary lawmaker Suranjit Sengupta termed BNP chairperson as the ‘extra-constitutional leader of the opposition’ said, like Al-Qaida, Taliban and ISIS, they have attacked the future of students. Workers party president and Civil Aviation and Tourism minister Rashed Khan Menon said after failing in the political race, BNP has made students their opponents. Senior AL leader Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim demanded Kalada Zia’s arrest and her party be banned. Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal Moin Uddin Khan Badal, state minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak and independent lawmaker Haji Mohammad Salim also took part in the discussion.
