Comilla Medical College closed indefinitely

Students evacuated their dormitories at Comilla Medical College after it was closed sine die on Wednesday following clashes between two factions of Bangladesh Chhatra League over establishing supremacy on the campus.
At least 13 activists of the BCL, student associate of the ruling Awami League, were injured as the feuding factions clashed since early hours of Wednesday.
The decision to close the medical college for an indefinite period came when a second round of the clashes broke out about 10:00am.
Male students were asked to evacuate their dormitories by 11:00am, while female students were given until 4:00pm to leave, said college principal Mohsinuzzaman Chowdhury.
Comilla Kotwali police officer-in-charge Salauddin Ahmed said that male students had left the campus immediately after the decision was taken by the authorities.
The campus wore a deserted look in the afternoon as most of the students had left by then.
Salauddin added that additional police were deployed on the campus to avoid further deterioration of the situation.
The clash first ensued when activists of one of the factions tried to oust their rivals from dormitories, students said.
This was the second time in two months that the factions locked horns over establishing supremacy on the campus.
