2 NCTB officials made OSD over

‘We made NCTB chief editor Pritish Kumar Sarkar and senior expert Lana Humaira Khan OSD,’ said Subodh Chandra Dhali, deputy secretary of education ministry.
He said the ministry on Monday also formed a three-member probe committee, led by additional secretary Ruhi Rahman, to investigate the matter of error in textbooks.
Two other members are ministry joint secretary Mahmudul Hasan and Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education director Alias Hossain.
The committee was asked to submit the report in seven working days, said Subodh.
On January 6, NCTB had formed another three-member committee to review the mistakes in the textbooks provided to students of pre-primary to secondary levels.
NCTB distributed around 36.21 crore textbooks free of cost among 4.26 crore primary and secondary level students on January 1.
But the students and their guardians were irked by mistakes in the textbooks provided by NCTB for students from pre-primary to secondary levels.
They pointed out that such mistakes demonstrated sheer irresponsibility of the board.
NCTB also distorted several contents, which also frustrated many.
According to students and guardians, the Class III Hindu religious studies book contains a wrong moral instruction on its back page. It reads ‘Do not heart anybody’, whereas it should have been ‘Do not hurt anybody’.
In the Bangla book of the same class, the poem Adarsha Chhele by Kusumkumari Das has been reworded and lines 11-14 of the original poem have been dropped.
Besides, students have claimed to have spotted several misspelled Bangla words.
‘These mistakes are silly and could have been avoided if the writers and reviewers were careful. But most of the students now would be misguided by the mistakes,’ said Farhana Nila, guardian of a Class III student of a Mirpur school.
