AL leader Suranjit passes away

Veteran Awami League leader Suranjit Sengupta died at Labaid Hospital in the city early Sunday. He was 77.

Suranjit breathed his last around 4:24am, said AL general secretary Obaidul Quader.

He was admitted to the Coronary Care Unit of the hospital on February 3.

Suranjit's body will be taken to Sylhet around 9:00am on Monday, Quader said.

Later, it will be taken to Suranjit's ancestral home in Dirai upazila of Sunamganj around 3:00pm for funeral, he added.
