Visiting UK minister calls on Khaleda

Visiting United Kingdom’s minister for Asia and the Pacific Alok Sharma on Saturday told Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairperson Khaleda Zia that the UK wants to see a free and fair election in Bangladesh.
The UK minister expressed the views when he called on Khaleda at her Gulshan office in the afternoon.
After the meeting that lasted for more than half an hour from 4:15pm, BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, who was present at the meeting, said they discussed issues of mutual interests of the two countries in the meeting. 
They (UK) always wanted and now want to see a free and fair election in Bangladesh and definitely want to see a representative government in Bangladesh, Fakhrul said at a press briefing after the meeting.
Fakhrul said UK wants good relation with Bangladesh.
He said the meeting discussed about how to improve relations in the field of trade and commerce, education and health between the two countries. 
He said BNP wants further improvement of Bangladesh’s relation with UK and wants more contribution of UK in various areas particularly in health and education in Bangladesh.
Fakhrul said during the meeting BNP brought into the UK minister’s knowledge about inconveniences faced by Bangladeshi people particularly businessmen and students in getting UK visa from New Delhi.
He said UK side assured that they would see the matter with importance.
UK side did not hold any news briefing after the meeting.
British high commissioner in Dhaka, Alison Blake and BNP chairperson’s adviser Reaz Rahman were also present at the meeting.
