NAPE DG, 4 others killed in road accidents

At least five people, including the director general of the National Academy for Primary Education, were killed and eight others injured in five separate road accidents in five districts on Saturday, according to reports received from the districts.
Our correspondent in Chittagong reports: NAPE DG Fazlur Rahman, 55, was killed and five others were injured in a road accident at Fatikchhari in Chittagong on Saturday.
The injured five were identified as Muhammad Rafiqul Islam Talukder, 40, superintendent of Primary Teachers’ Training Institute Chittagong, his wife Mushfequa Binte Sultan, 35, also the superintendent of Primary Teachers’ Training Institute Patia, Haykul Islam, 22, office bearer of PTI Chittagong, Doyal Deb Chowdhury, 60 and micro bus driver Ali Hossain, 25. 
Locals said the accident took place as a speedy truck collided-head on the microbus that carrying the NAPE DG and five others at Baroiarhaat of Fatikchhari around 7:00am. 
Locals rushed the injured to Chittagong Medical College Hospital where duty doctors declared Fazlur dead around 9:00am, said CMCH police outpost in-charge inspector Jahirul Islam.
The other injured were undergoing treatment at CMCH, Jahirul added. 
NAPE DG along with other officials was on their way to Khagrachhari PTI to official visit, said Nazrul Islam, instructor of PTI Patia.
Fatikchhari police officer-in-charge Abu Yusuf Mia said that police seized the truck but its driver managed to flee.
In Magura, an elderly man Md Ansar Ali, 95, of Hajipur under Sadar upazila, was killed as a truck crushed him at Esakhada on Magura-Jhenaidah highway in Sadar upazila on Friday noon, reports United News of Bangladesh.
Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha reports: Arumita Karmakar, of Zajira upazila in Madaripur was killed and two others injured in a road accident in Thantali area on Madaripur-Chandpur road under Sadar upazila on Saturday.
Our correspondent in Munshiganj reports: an unidentified woman was killed as a sand-laden track hit her in Kumarvog area of Louhajang in Munshiganj Saturday noon while she was crossing the road. 
Due to the accident, the traffic on Dhaka-Mawa highway remained suspended for about one hour. 
New Age IU correspondent reports: a schoolboy, Hasibul Islam, 11, son of Shaiful Islam, of village Fieldpara under Daulatpur in Kushtia, was killed and another injured in a road accident at Koipal under the upazila Saturday morning.
Officer-in-charge of Daulatpur police, Azgar Ali, said the accident took place at Kushtia-Pragpur road around 11:00am while a speeding bus coming from the opposite direction hit Hasibul and Jihad, leaving them critically injured.
Later, local people recovered the duo and took them to Daulatpur Hospital where on-duty doctors declared Hasibul dead.
