Blogger Oyasiqur buried at Noakhali village
Murdered blogger Oyasiqur Rahman Mishu, 27, was buried in their family graveyard on Tuesday after the namaj-e-janaja at his village home in Noakhali. His body was brought to his Hajipur village on early Tuesday. Tipu Sultan, the father, has been in extreme pain and frequently being fainted since he received the death news of his son, our Noakhali correspondent reported. His wife died 20 years ago. The slain’s sister, Asrafi Sultana Shimu, with tears in her eyes said, ‘We lost our mother 20 years ago…our father raised us with mother’s love.’ Oyasiqur was a meritorious student and peace loving.
He never got involved in any political activities, other than writing blogs, she said. The online activist was hacked to death in the capital’s Tejgaon Industrial area on Monday morning for what the assailants claimed his ‘anti-religion’ and ‘anti-Islamic’ write-ups on social media. Three assailants, all madrassah students, attacked him on his way to work and struck him repeatedly with machetes before a dumbstruck crowd of pedestrians leaving him dead on the spot. Locals captured two of the alleged killers and handed them over to police while a third fled the scene. Oyasiqur Rahman was a trainee employee at a travel agency at Motijheel in the capital.
