Hasina tells MPs to resist BNP, allies from local constituencies.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Thursday night asked her party lawmakers to go and stay in their respective constituencies and form committees to resist ‘unruly’ activities of the BNP-led 20 party alliance, in the name of anti-government movement. While addressing the Awami League Parliamentary Party (ALPP) at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban’s Conference room she also asked the lawmakers to work in favour of the party-backed candidates in the upcoming mayoral elections in the Dhaka and Chittagong city corporations. Leader of the House and prime minister Hasina presided over the hour-long meeting, where she also asked party leaders to take the city corporation election seriously. ‘BNP is taking part in the elections so the AL MPs have been asked to work in favour of party-backed candidates. It is a matter of prestige now,’ said an MP elected from Kushtia. Chief Whip ASM Feroz after the meeting said, ‘the PM ordered all of our MPs to go to their own constituencies and form committees to resist BNP-sponsored terrorist activities across the country. She also urged them to highlight the successes of the government to the people of the country.
