Four ‘Neo-JMB men’ arrested in Rajshahi

Police arrested four suspected members of Neo-JMB, a faction of banned extremist outfit Jamaatul Mujahideen Bangladesh, in Durgapur and Puthia upazilas of Rajshahi early Friday.

The arrestees were identified as Aslam, 37, son of Isa Ali, Mohamamd Ali, 30, son of Khodabax, Babu, 28, son of Joad Ali of village Joykrishnapur in Durgapur, and Abul Kashem Rokon, 38, son of Abdul Hamid of village Dhadash in Puthia.

Sumit Chowdhury, additional superintendent of Rajshahi Special Branch police, said a team of police conducted an anti-extremist drive in the upazilas and arrested them along with sharp weapons and jihadi books.

A case was filed in this connection.
