BNP denies Khaleda meets ISI in London

Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairperson Khaleda Zia had no meeting with any foreign intelligence agency in London, said the party’s secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Sunday. 
Recently an online newspaper had reported that Khaleda Zia had meetings with Pakistani intelligent agency ISI and Jamaat-e-Islami leaders in London.
Terming the report ‘false’ and ‘fabricated’, Fakhrul said the photograph the newspaper had used was a ‘manufactured’ item. 
Addressing a news briefing at the party’s central office in Dhaka, Fakhrul said a conspiracy was on to spread such news on Khaleda Zia, who is now in the UK for treatment purposes. 
He said BNP had sent rejoinder to the newspaper.
He said the ruling party top leaders and ministers were making various statements shortly after Khaleda Zia went to London for treatment and to meet her family members.
He said they [AL] claimed at the beginning that Khaleda had fled in fear of facing trail.
When the top level of the state administration made such remarks over a sub judice issue then definitely that was an ‘obstacle’ to the justice system, Fakhrul added.
He said Khaleda Zia and her elder son Tarique Rahman, BNP’s senior vice-chairman, did not need to hatch conspiracy or do conspiracy with any foreign country for BNP’s win in election and to come to power.
Khaleda went to London on July 15 for treatment of her eye and knee.
She is staying in the residence of Tarique who has been staying in London since September 2008 for ‘medical treatment’.
He also said it is known to all who conspired to foil general election of January 22, 2007, brought Fakhruddin-Moeenuddin illegal government,  terming it as their harvest of movement and gave legitimacy to their illegal activities and who with whom  colluding  formed the  ‘unethical’ and ‘illegal’ government through  holding ‘voterless’ election in January 5,  2014.
Fakhrul urged the policymakers of concerned newspapers not to publish ‘false’, ‘imaginary’ and ‘fabricated’ report to divert people from key problem of the country and to cooperate the enemy of democracy.
In reply to a question, he said  Khaleda’s eye operation would undergo soon.
Khaleda’s return to home would depend on her treatment and advice of physician, he said.
Responding to a question, he said the BNP chief had no engagement with the political leaders of the United Kingdom.
BNP leaders Nazrul Islam Khan, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Abdus Salam Azad and Munir Hossain among others were present at the news briefing.
