SC stays further proceedings on DU VC appointment

The Appellate Division on Thursday stayed further proceedings on the appointment of Dhaka University vice chancellor from the panels elected by the senate.

A three-member bench of the Appellate Division led by chief justice SK Sinha also  asked the high court to dispose of, within four weeks, its ruling on the university authorities about the selection of three member VC panel for appointing vice chancellor by the president.

The apex court, however, allowed AAMS Arefin Siddique to continue his duties as the vice chancellor for four weeks.  

AAMS Arefin Siddique is due to retire on August 24.
