BNP calls hartal on Wednesday.
Bangladesh Nationalist Party on Monday called a fresh 24-hour hartal across the country protesting the attack on party chairperson Khaleda Zia at Kawran Bazar in the city. Dhaka and Chittagong city areas were kept out of the purview of the hartal. BNP standing committee member, Moudud Ahmed, came up with the announcement this evening in a news briefing at party’s central office at Nayapaltan in the city. A group of people attacked on Khaleda’s motorcade while she was campaigning for her party’s candidate Tabith Awal for the upcoming Dhaka north city corporation polls and vandalised at least four vehicles. Moudud alleged that the government-backed armed goons attacked on the BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia to kill her. The party would also hold rally across the country except Dhaka and Chittagong city, protesting the attack. Meanwhile, immediately after the briefing around 7:45pm some miscreants hurled five crude bombs in front of the office, reports New Age correspondent.
