Manarat university student stabbed dead in city

A student of Manarat International University was stabbed to death by miscreants in city’s Madhya Badda area on Monday morning.

The deceased was identified as Nasim Ahmed, 24, son of Saifuddin, and a third year BBA student of the university.

Md Limon, a neighbour of Nasim, who rescued him and took him to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital, said that a group of miscreants numbering 10-12 stabbed Nasim in front of their house around 9:30am, leaving critically injured.

Later, the injured was rushed to the hospital where doctors declared him dead around 10:45am.

The victim’s father Saifuddin Ahmed said that there had been an altercation between Nasim and a local boy Ramzan on Sunday over a cricket match.

At one stage, Nasim slapped Ramzan which triggered a clash.

When Nasim’s father reached the spot, Ramzan’s uncle also assaulted him.

Arbitration was scheduled to be held on today’s evening to settle the feud.
