4 killed in Kushtia road accident

At least four people were killed and 30 more injured as a bus fell into a roadside ditch at Noy Mile of Mirpur upazila in Kushtia early Thursday, United News of Bangladesh reports. The deceased were identified as Alam Mandal, 55, Zahidul Islam, 40, Nur-e Alam Siddique, 55, all hailing from Akkelpur upazila in Jaipurhat; and bus driver Parvez, 34. Mirpur police officer-in-charge, Kazi Jalal Uddin, said the accident took place around 3:00am on Kushtia-Pabna highway. The driver of the Faridpur-bound bus from Akkelpur lost control over the steering and fell into a roadside ditch leaving four people dead on the spot and 30 others injured. The injured were taken to Kushtia General Hospital.
