Family wants govt to ‘return’ Salah Uddin: Khaleda
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairperson, Khaleda Zia, on Sunday said anxiety of the missing BNP joint secretary general Salah Uddin Ahmed’s family was increasing day by day about what had actually happened to him but the government was taking no steps to find him out.In a statement, she said two months had passed since ‘the law enforcement agencies picked up SalahUddin’ but he still remained untraced.
Khaleda said during Sheikh Hasina’s two consecutive terms, many BNP leaders, including Ilias Ali, Chowdhury Alam and Saiful Islam Hiru, had disappeared.
‘But what has happened to them remains unknown. Their families do not know whether they are alive,’ she said.
‘Against this backdrop, anxiety in Salah Uddin’s family is growing day by day about what has actually happened to him. But Sheikh Hasina made fun of it let alone taking any steps to return him’, Khaleda said.
‘Where is the security of common people when an important citizen like Salah Uddin remains untraced? Have the laws and institutions been sent into exile…?, Khaleda asked.
On March 10, Salah Uddin went missing from a house at Uttara in the capital. His family and BNP claimed that he was picked up by law enforcers.
