Salah Uddin moved to another hospital for better treatment.

Bangladesh Nationalist Party leader Salah Uddin Ahmed was shifted to North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences in Shillong on Wednesday from Shillong Civil Hospital, where he was admitted in police custody on May 11.Emerging from the Shillong Civil Hospital, Salah Uddin, also a former lawmaker and cabinet member, told reporters that he was pleased that the Indian government was arranging better medication for him, according to report of Bangladeshi private television channels.
The BNP leader said he was very sick and urged his countrymen to pray for his early recovery, the TV reports  said.Earlier on Wednesday, Salah Uddin’s wife Hasina Ahmed after meeting with her husband at the Shillong civil hospital told reports that Salah Uddin needed better treatment as he was a patient of heart and kidney.She said his legs were swelling, he could not stand straight and his hands and legs started shivering if he was standing for a while.BNP assistant office secretary Abdul Latif Jony, now in Shillong, told New Age that the Shillong civil hospital authority formed a medical board for Salah Uddin on Wednesday.


He was moved to the institute based on the recommendation of the board, Jony added.Hasina along with Jony met the authorities of the civil hospital on Wednesday morning, he said.When asked, Jony said that appointment of Meghalaya High Court lawyer SP Mahanta to deal with Salah Uddin’s legal matter was almost finalised.Hasina and Jony on Tuesday night met Mahanta at his chamber and discussed the matters, Jony said adding that on Wednesday morning they also handed over some documents to Mahanta for legal purpose.
On Tuesday, after meeting her husband, Hasina said that she wanted Salah Uddin to be taken to Singapore for better treatment as he had been getting medical treatment in Singapore for last 20 years.Salah Uddin was first taken to the Shillong civil hospital on May 11, then admitted to the Institute of Mental Health and Neurological Science in Shillong and again admitted to the Shillong Civil Hospital on May 12.On Monday, for the first time, Salah Uddin told journalists at Shillong Civil Hospital that he was left ‘blindfolded’ and hands ‘tied’ near Shillong Golf Course after probably 12 to14 hours of drive.Shillong police earlier said that Salah Uddin was found wandering the Golf Link area in the Meghalaya capital on May 11 and the police arrested him on charge of intrusion.The BNP leader had gone missing after he was picked up reportedly by law enforcers from an Uttara house in Dhaka on March 10.
